Call for Applications 2020 Academic Year: Master of Public Health (MPH) with Special Interest in Tobacco Control
Applicants are invited to submit applications for the Master of Public Health (MPH) programme with special interest in tobacco control. The Program of MPH offered by the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University Department of Public Health is a two- year program that utilises online and face-to-face interactions. Selected students will be required to attend compulsory summer and winter schools, which are held on campus in January and February as well as June and July respectively. Examinations are written on campus and applicants;
- Must have special interest in Tobacco Control.
- Foreign qualifications to be evaluated by SAQA
As an intended target by the Africa Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) and Sefako Makgatho University (SMU), the following countries are eligible to apply;
Benin, Botswana, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Gabon, The Gambia, Kenya, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal and Uganda.
Minimum admission requirements: (All foreign qualification must be equivalent to SAQA NQF Level 08)
- Four year bachelor’s degree OR
- Three year bachelor’s degree plus honours OR
- Three year bachelor’s degree plus postgraduate diploma OR
- Minimum of two year’s work experience.

Also note that meeting the minimum requirements as stated above does not guarantee acceptance to the program. Applicants are ranked according to a departmental scoring system and applicants with highest score are selected.
Note: Foreign applications submitted without SAQA evaluation certificate will not be accepted.
